He (Jesus) went about doing good.

(Acts 10:38)

Jesus’ life on earth was simple. He did not have much, and He depended on His Father for every need. Yet everywhere He went, He did good.

That is what He asks of us each day: to move through our day with open eyes and willing hearts, noticing the people around us who may need help, encouragement, or kindness.

If we look carefully, we will find many opportunities to serve. Doing good does not always require something great or difficult. Often, it begins with simple acts of love, such as:

·         Holding a door for someone.

·         Giving up a seat to someone who is struggling.

·         Calling a friend who is going through a difficult time.

Jesus is our example. He wants us to be an example to others as they see us helping those in need. While He walked this earth, He reached out to people with deep troubles, even when religious leaders judged Him for helping those who were hurting.

He helped sinners turn their lives around. He encouraged those who needed encouragement. Let us be like Jesus as we walk through this life, choosing each day to go about doing good to those we encounter.

Lord, open my eyes to see those who are in need. Help me give what I have to someone today; it may mean more to them than I dare to imagine.
