Solitude
“He went up into a mountain, apart to pray.”
—Matthew 14:23
A Pattern of Solitude
After ministering to those who sought
His wisdom and healing, Jesus withdrew to a mountain to be alone and pray to
His Father. We may not have a mountain to climb, but we still need a quiet
place where we can meet with God and be renewed.
Time With God
Jesus understood the importance of
time with His Father, and His example invites us to do the same. Each day, we
can step away, speak honestly with God about what is on our hearts, and listen
for His response.
God offers wisdom for every problem
and guidance for every decision. In solitude, our spirits are renewed. As we
meditate on His Word and allow it to fill us, He gives us the strength we need
to return to the world.
So today, choose a quiet place— take
time to read His word, ask Him the questions that are on
your heart, and listen for His guidance. In that quiet time, you can find
renewed strength, a fresh outlook, and peace that no one can take from you.
D. Fiore
Lord, lead me to a quiet places where I
can seek You. Fill my heart with Your wisdom and love. Give me strength to
return to the world and look at things through Your eyes and not the worlds.
